Principal Electrical Engineer
Job Description
Lead embedded hardware engineering work across space orbital, lunar, aerospace, and defense programs, from product definition through qualification and release.
Responsibilities
- Develop and oversee micro-controller operated digital and analog electronics following established ESI Motion methodologies and processes
- Lead root cause corrective actions as assigned
- Recommend and implement hardware solutions and improved practices
- Guide engineering activities for packaging and board layout
- Lead feedback discussions for hardware requirements tied to design, time, feasibility, and related topics
- Provide technical guidance to support development of complete systems (hardware and software)
- Own product design and development from start to finish, including product definition, design, parts selection, and qualification
- Formulate product designs using scientific analysis and mathematical models
- Create and maintain engineering documentation such as specifications, schematics, layouts, BOMs, and qualification reports
- Interface with customers to determine and define requirements
- Document test plans and test results; lead and design test stand equipment
- Coordinate and execute hardware releases, version upgrades, and custom interfaces using company quality assurance practices
- Create and review design and product information for technical accuracy, including manuals and brochures
- Consult with engineering staff to evaluate hardware-software interfaces and align with system operational and performance requirements
- Lead teams in product definition and review activities
- Plan, manage, and execute multiple activities while maintaining quality requirements, budget costs, and schedule milestones
- Lead and mentor other team members
Requirements
- 15+ years of experience in electronics design
- Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Advanced application of electrical and software engineering concepts
- Advanced design, analysis, and testing of micro-controller operated digital and analog electronics
- Embedded systems software design experience
- Experience with IGBTs, Mosfets, and other power drivers and current sensors
- Release management and document control
- Application lifecycle management
- Strong fundamentals in analog and digital circuits
- Proficiency with A/D and D/A converters
- Experience with a Schematic Capture tool
- Background in digital signal processing, control systems, and digital filters
- TCP/IP and C+/C++ knowledge is a plus
- Sensorless motor control knowledge is a plus
- Project management methodologies knowledge is a plus
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Worst Case Circuit Analysis capability
- Hands-on, “get it done” attitude
- Strong communication and leadership ability
- Ability to collaborate with other engineering disciplines
- Creativity and self-motivation to solve unique and complex technical problems
- Desire to lead teams and be promoted to higher levels of responsibility
- Knowledge of Microsoft products including Windows 7, Word, Excel, etc.

Salary: USD 180,000 per yearly
