Compensation

Primary level salary range: $79,300.00 - $118,900.00

Secondary level salary range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00

Role overview

Summary: Principal / Flight Avionics Electronics Engineer onsite in Melbourne, responsible for supporting the development and execution of the program and Avionics Integration of aircraft flight deck systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide avionics integration engineering support for flight deck systems and components such as IFF, TCAS, radio altimeter, primary flight displays, TAWS, and other avionics subsystems
  • Support the development of system safety documentation
  • Create aircraft system schematics to support air vehicle wiring diagrams
  • Develop and analyze requirements and conduct trade studies
  • Manage suppliers, review design data, define functional test requirements including acceptance, qualification, and system integration, and support test execution
  • Support informal and formal testing of subsystem requirements in the lab and troubleshoot hardware
  • Assist flight test activities and post flight data analysis, and resolve flight test anomalies
  • Communicate effectively across teams, understand the scope and impact of work, raise concerns and risks, and maintain high technical rigor

Qualifications

  • Flight Avionics Engineer Level 2: Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with 2+ years of relevant experience or Master’s degree with 0+ years; must have Cameo or DOORS or similar product experience; active Top Secret clearance to apply and start
  • Flight Avionics Engineer Level 3: Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with 5+ years of relevant experience or Master’s degree with 3+ years; must have Cameo or DOORS or similar product experience; MIL-STD-1553, ARINC 429 and Ethernet experience; active Top Secret clearance to apply and start

  • Experience with avionics systems
  • Experience with system modeling and requirements management tools (Cameo, DOORS, Rhapsody), developing and maturing requirements, and tracing requirements across levels
  • Experience with supplier management of avionics equipment
  • Experience with at least one flight certification standard listed (PBN, RNAV, RNP, CNS/ATM, DO-178/254/200/160)
  • Performance Based Navigation (PBN) experience and certification
  • RNP/RNAV certification experience
  • Experience designing to RTCA DO-178 software standard for RNP RNAV certification
  • Experience designing to RTCA DO-254 hardware standard for airborne electronic systems
  • Experience designing to RTCA DO-200 for processing aeronautical data
  • Experience designing to RTCA DO-160 and MIL-STD-810 environmental qualifications
