Job Description
Northrop Grumman seeks a Principal or Senior Principal Electrical Engineer for Vehicle Subsystems and Integration. The role centers on on-site electrical design, analysis, requirements, and troubleshooting of aircraft subsystems, with assignments across multiple locations including Palmdale, CA; Oklahoma City, OK; and Whiteman AFB, MO.
Responsibilities
- Engineer electrical wiring designs for a functional system, selecting aircraft-type conductors and electro-mechanical components such as connectors, relays, switches, circuit breakers, and terminal junction systems.
- Support design requirements for electrical power generation, conversion and distribution, and circuit protection for aerospace vehicle systems, covering Electrical Loads Analysis, test procedures, power architectures, reports, analyses, and related deliverables.
- Own all aspects of system and component design and development, including trade studies, layouts, architecture definition, system test and verification, and troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with a subcontractor management team and serve as the technical point of contact with suppliers for hardware development, qualification, and procurement.
- Plan and execute system-level tests, provide verification support, process data, and troubleshoot.
- Conduct system-level evaluations to verify requirements and ensure airworthiness criteria are met.
Requirements
- Principal Electrical Engineer: Bachelor’s Degree in a related STEM discipline with 5 years of electrical engineering experience; or a Master’s Degree with 3 years of experience; or a PhD with 1 year of experience.
- Senior Principal Electrical Engineer: Bachelor’s Degree in a related STEM discipline with 8 years of electrical engineering experience; or a Master’s Degree with 6 years of experience; or a PhD with 4 years of experience.
- Experience in electrical design of air vehicle systems.
- Current, active US Government Secret clearance.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP) within a timeframe determined by the company to meet its business needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with military aircraft subsystem development, including requirements definition, specification development, component analysis, procurement, source selection, integration, and test and verification for advanced aircraft.
- Experience interpreting component detail drawings, installation drawings, and test procedures.

Compensation
Primary level salary range: $93,300.00 - $171,000.00 per year
Secondary level salary range: $116,300.00 - $213,400.00 per year
