Job Description

Focused Support LLC invites engineers to join a small, growth-oriented software team in Logan, Utah, onsite. This Principal Software Engineer role combines architectural leadership with hands-on implementation and mentorship, overseeing deployments and guiding teams. The salary range is USD 168,000 to 218,000 per year, and the benefits package includes a 401(k) plan with matching, dental, health, vision, life insurance, and relocation assistance. The company maintains a Logan presence and an office in Columbia, MD, and develops software for the US Air Force and other major aircraft manufacturers, contributing to national security.

Responsibilities

  • Architect scalable, resilient, flexible, and secure system designs that align with business goals
  • Ensure designs reflect business objectives and user needs
  • Hands-on implementation of core frameworks and critical system components
  • Proactively manage technical debt and promote code quality, security, and performance through leadership and code reviews
  • Communicate technical status and direction clearly with non-technical Product Owners and stakeholders
  • Lead software teams by articulating the architectural vision and maintaining an active codebase presence
  • Mentor junior developers through pair programming, architectural guidance, and constructive feedback
  • Oversee and execute product deployments to customer locations

Requirements

  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate in a team environment
  • Capable of working with minimal day-to-day direction
  • Expert level proficiency with a modern object-oriented language such as Java, C++, or C#
  • Proficiency in modern web design paradigms, tools, and languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Angular
  • Desire and ability to quickly and effectively learn new technologies and adapt to new environments and methodologies
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Flexibility to quickly adjust to changing needs and priorities of a small, rapidly growing business
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent professional experience
  • US citizenship is required due to security requirements
