Process Design Engineer
Job Description
This onsite Process Design Engineer role in Fenton, Michigan offers a competitive annual salary of USD 70,000 to 80,000. You will work under the Sr. Process Design Engineer, collaborating with quality and production staff to ensure parts move smoothly through manufacturing. The position emphasizes practical design work, hands-on prototyping, and clear communication with cross-functional teams in a manufacturing setting.
Responsibilities
- Review a design brief to determine requirements and scope.
- Conduct or apply research on user experience, market trends, and general functionality.
- Partner with the production floor to streamline product implementation.
- Develop design solutions that address user problems.
- Evaluate whether a design solution is user-friendly, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly.
- Create multiple iterations of design prototypes using CAD tools.
- Conduct usability tests and refine the product based on results.
- Assess design solutions against industry standards and regulations.
- Keep internal and customer designs confidential, storing information on protected company systems.
- Document the design process and present progress updates to the Director of Engineering.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering.
- At least 5 years of process or design engineering experience.
- CAD design experience.
- SOLIDWORKS / TUBEWORKS (Plus).
- Creating Plant Floor Layouts / Prints (Plus).
- Understanding of Pneumatic Logic (Plus).
- Poka-Yoke designs.
- 3D printer experience.
- 3D modeling.

Physical Requirements

Working Conditions

- Collaborates with staff and other organizations, and may encounter challenging interactions in the course of daily duties.
