Product Engineer
Job Description
Genesis Products LLC is seeking a Product Engineer in Mocksville, NC to design and develop products that move cleanly from engineering intent to manufacturing execution. This onsite role reports to the Engineering Manager and supports both prototype and production needs, with a focus on accuracy, functionality, and practical manufacturability.
In this position, you will translate product requirements into 2D and 3D CAD documentation, generate CNC tool-path programs, and coordinate sample builds while partnering with manufacturing to keep engineering changes aligned with the process.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop new and current products
- Create 2D and 3D CAD designs and detailed drawings
- Develop CNC tool-path programs
- Program and operate CNC routers
- Coordinate and occasionally execute prototype and production sample builds
- Support manufacturing to ensure products are fabricated and assembled according to intended design functionality
- Provide information for product quotes, coordinate with vendors, and create engineering drawings as needed to facilitate production changes
- Evaluate proposed engineering changes for impact and feasibility on both the product and process before incorporation
- Develop and improve engineering standards
- Develop and maintain procedures/processes that support the Sales team and new customers
- Interface with internal teams and customers to jointly determine needs and solutions
- Inspect parts for compliance upon execution of programs
- Complete other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience
- Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred
- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings and production orders
- Fluency in AutoCAD 2D and Inventor or SolidWorks 3D, including Alphacam
- Strong experience programming CNC routers
- Experience with wood products is preferred
- Understanding of draft angles and molding/molds
- Strong project management skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Willingness to be hands-on with materials and processes to learn and adapt
- Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work in a team environment and give/receive feedback
- Capable of using calipers and other precision measuring instruments
