Product Technical Support Engineer
Job Description
Johnson Controls is hiring a Product Technical Support Engineer to provide day-to-day technical support for Field Sales and Service and Data Center Accounts across its chiller product offerings. This remote role supports US-based candidates and centers on troubleshooting, improving product reliability, and enabling continuous improvement through testing and collaboration with quality and engineering teams.
Working with key Data Center Accounts and the Field Sales & Service organization, you will help drive lifecycle cost improvements, validate new and existing equipment through test plans, and use structured problem-solving to identify opportunities and make timely decisions based on available facts.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day technical support for key Data Center Accounts to the Field Sales & Service organization on a global basis through site visits, phone, fax, or email.
- Drive product reliability through the Continuous Improvement Process for both existing products and new products being introduced.
- Deliver technical support and collaborate with quality management and engineering to improve overall life cycle cost.
- Create test plans to prove out new and/or existing product equipment offerings.
- Maintain effectiveness through changes in responsibilities or environment by exploring benefits, trying new approaches, and collaborating with others to make change successful.
- Develop novel, measurable solutions for existing and potential customers (internal or external) by experimenting with new ways to solve problems and capture opportunities that lead to unique outcomes.
- Place a high priority on the customer perspective when making decisions and taking action, including implementing service practices aligned to customer and organizational needs.
- Support organizational strategies and operational discipline by focusing teams on critical priorities and measures progress and accountability against those metrics.
- Set, document, and communicate clear work standards to improve performance, including keeping “the fundamentals” widely available and easily accessible.
- Identify problems and opportunities by gathering, analyzing, and interpreting quantitative and qualitative information; establish decision criteria, generate and evaluate alternatives, and make timely decisions consistent with facts and constraints.
Required Qualifications
- Travel up to 10%.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related Technical/Scientific field with 2+ years of experience, or 6+ years of technical experience if no degree, including knowledge of HVAC&R products.
- Ability to analyze and solve complex product system problems.
- Proficiency troubleshooting the refrigeration cycle as applied to air-conditioning duty on Applied Equipment.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related Technical/Scientific field.

Compensation
- $90,000 - $130,000 per year (salary determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, and alignment with market data).
