Project Engineer
Job Description
Zelestra is hiring a Project Engineer to support engineering activities for utility-scale renewable energy projects from early-stage development through Issued for Construction (IFC).
Responsibilities
- Lead engineering design activities from early-stage development through detailed design and IFC
- Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering work across civil, electrical, structural, mechanical, geotechnical, and environmental disciplines
- Manage engineering consultants, owner’s engineers, and EPC partners
- Review technical drawings, engineering calculations, design packages, specifications, studies, and reports
- Ensure engineering deliverables align with applicable codes, standards, contracts, and internal design criteria
- Support interconnection, permitting, due diligence, constructability reviews, and technical risk assessments
- Develop and review scopes of work, requests for proposals, engineering budgets, and project schedules
- Collaborate with Development, Construction, Procurement, Project Management, Operations, and Commercial teams
- Support EPC contract execution, coordinate with contractors, perform design reviews, and resolve technical issues
- Identify design optimization, value engineering, cost reduction, and schedule improvement opportunities
- Maintain engineering standards, templates, specifications, lessons learned, and technical documentation
- Participate in project meetings and provide clear technical recommendations to internal and external stakeholders
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related technical discipline
- Minimum 3 years of engineering experience, including experience in renewable energy, power generation, utilities, infrastructure, or construction
- Experience supporting utility-scale solar PV, battery energy storage systems (BESS), wind energy, or power infrastructure projects
- Knowledge of engineering design principles, technical specifications, design reviews, and multidisciplinary coordination
- Experience working with engineering consultants, EPC contractors, vendors, or owner’s engineering teams
- Strong understanding of project development, detailed design, construction, and commissioning processes
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, document management systems, and engineering software
- Strong analytical skills, technical writing ability, communication skills, and stakeholder management
- Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, deadlines, and technical deliverables
