Project Engineer
Job Description
Sen Plex Corporation is hiring a Project Engineer to support the Project Manager in coordinating project activities from inception through closing. This onsite position in Honolulu, HI focuses on contract and documentation work, equipment and materials purchasing and scheduling, and managing project changes including RFIs.
You will review project plans and specifications, support meetings with the general contractor and/or owner, and help keep communication flowing across subcontractors, vendors, and internal departments. The role also involves analyzing cost and schedule impacts tied to changes, while maintaining accurate project documentation throughout the lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the PM in coordinating with the general contractor and/or owner, including support for all project meetings and ongoing project-related communication
- Help the PM build long-term business relationships with general contractors and/or owners
- Review contracts, project plans, and specifications
- Prepare subcontract agreements, purchase orders, schedules of values, and customer billings
- Review submittals and shop drawings for accuracy, efficiency, and clarity
- Manage purchasing, scheduling, and delivery of equipment and materials, ensuring alignment with project plans and specifications
- Prepare and submit change order estimates and work orders, and confirm completion of change-related work
- Identify and recommend cost savings and value engineering items
- Support the PM during negotiations by providing clarification and resolution as needed across contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and internal departments and field teams
- Prepare work orders and budgets for change order work
- Identify, analyze, and resolve issues through the RFI process, including defining cost or schedule impacts
- Provide project schedule and updates to the appropriate departments
- Prepare and submit closing documents and maintain project documentation diligently
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred)
- Project engineering experience
- Understanding of trade standards and practices, including building codes and standards
- Ability to read and understand specifications and plans
- Capacity to handle complex tasks and multiple priorities while maintaining a professional demeanor
- Excellent time management with a proven ability to meet required deadlines
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Must reside on Oahu and be eligible to work in the United States
- Ability to understand cost estimating, including labor units and material costing
- Strong computer skills and a quick learner of various computer programs
Compensation and Schedule
- Salary: USD 50,000 to 80,000 per year
- Schedule: 8 hour shift, Monday to Friday
