Job Description

Devault Refrigeration is hiring a Project Engineer to design and deliver industrial and commercial refrigeration systems from concept through commissioning.

Responsibilities

  • Create refrigeration system layouts, complete load calculations, and select suitable components
  • Ensure projects meet safety codes, energy efficiency requirements, and environmental regulations
  • Improve system performance with a focus on sustainability
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, and internal teams to support on-time, successful project execution
  • Track project progress, identify technical challenges, and implement engineering solutions
  • Supervise installation, including testing and start up procedures
  • Support commissioning to confirm correct system functionality
  • Perform inspections and performance evaluations
  • Troubleshoot refrigeration system issues and provide technical solutions
  • Apply best practices for refrigerant management and ongoing system maintenance
  • Maintain compliance with workplace safety standards
  • Develop and maintain detailed project documentation, technical reports, and operational guidelines
  • Complete post-project evaluations to drive continuous improvement
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (or related field)
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in refrigeration, HVAC, or mechanical systems (refrigeration, HVAC or mechanical systems: 3 years required)
  • Knowledge of refrigeration principles, heat transfer, and thermodynamics (required)
  • Experience with ammonia, CO2, and Freon-based systems (preferred)
  • Proficiency with system design software such as AutoCAD (BIM is a plus)
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Basic computer proficiency, including MS Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to collaborate with a team
  • Ability to work independently
  • Problem-solving and analytical thinking
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Interest in obtaining PE certification
  • Safety- and quality-focused work style
  • Valid Driver’s license and insurable driving record (required)
  • Must pass substance screenings and background screenings
  • Must follow the employee manual and all safety policies
