Job Description

MJ Recruiters is hiring a Project Engineer focused on capital expenditure (CapEx) projects at an OEM environment in Tiffin, OH. This onsite role supports delivery across multiple active projects by coordinating scope, schedules, budgets, and ongoing customer communication while reporting to a Project Team Lead and working alongside project managers and operations professionals.

The position involves steering up to 20 concurrent projects through their different stages, serving as the liaison between production and customers, and ensuring equipment inspection and verification align with the customer project scope. It also requires clear documentation and active participation in project meetings with sales and engineering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage up to 20 projects at a time across varying stages
  • Serve as the liaison between production and customers, communicating project status
  • Oversee budgets, timelines, and project scope
  • Forecast projects and communicate and document changes
  • Ensure equipment inspection and verification meets the customer project scope
  • Negotiate change orders and align project terms and scheduling with customers and operations
  • Provide updates to customers, then either hold them to the project scope or help explain additional costs
  • Complete required project documentation and attend project meetings with sales and engineering
  • Oversee equipment installs and assist with oversight of final inspection
  • Represent the company professionally to foster and build client relationships
  • Perform other duties as directed by management

Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma; additional post education is preferred
  • Ideally 3-5 years of experience in a similar project engineering role
  • Experience managing CapEx projects in general manufacturing or at an OEM (original equipment manufacturer)
  • Experience overseeing project timelines and budgets
  • Experience reading blueprints and part drawings
  • Ability to forecast projects
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Preferred Skills (Not Required)

  • ERP experience
  • Skilled trades background
  • Working knowledge of PLCs
  • Fabrication or paint background

Work Location and Schedule

  • Tiffin, OH (onsite)
  • Travel up to 10%-20%, described as occasional and not frequent road travel
