Project Engineer/Engineering Technologist Senior to Principal
Job Description
AEP Service Corporation is seeking a Project Engineer / Engineering Technologist at senior to principal level for an on-site role in Columbus, OH.
Responsibilities
- Develop and oversee the Engineering Work Plan.
- Lead the Engineering Design Review process and respond to RFIs.
- Coordinate design efforts with internal teams (Engineering, Operations, IT/Technology) and external partners (Developers, Architects/Engineers, Original Equipment Manufacturers, regulatory agencies).
- Provide support during construction and facilitate project closeout activities to ensure timely and efficient completion.
- Provide regular updates on engineering progress to the project team and stakeholders.
- Lead, facilitate and coordinate engineering activities among AEP, Developer, A/E, and OEMs for Generation capital projects.
- Schedule and lead Engineering meetings with project stakeholders.
- Occasional travel to AEP generation facilities with some overnight stays may be required.
Requirements
- Typically 4+ years of related engineering experience with a Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program; or 2+ years with a Master's degree or PhD in engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico is encouraged and preferred; confirmation is required to ensure Puerto Rico PE aligns with NCEES standards.
- Alternative degree paths include: Bachelor's in engineering (non-ABET) plus a Master's or PhD in engineering from an ABET-accredited program; or Bachelor's in Engineering Technology (ABET-accredited) with a Master's or PhD in engineering technology from an ABET-accredited program; or a Bachelor's in Engineering Technology with a Master's or PhD in engineering technology from an ABET-accredited program.
- A degree in engineering technology is preferred, though engineering degrees will be considered.
- Typically 8+ years of related engineering experience with a Bachelor's in engineering from an ABET-accredited program; or 6+ years with a Master's or PhD in engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- PE licensure is preferred for this position unless an EVP-approved waiver is granted.
- Individuals with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology can satisfy degree requirements if they obtain a certified PE license.
- Experience overseeing multi-discipline engineering work is preferred; mechanical engineering experience and degree are also preferred.
