Residential Building Systems Design Engineer
Job Description
Residential Building Systems Design Engineer role in Heber City, UT, responsible for owning how structural systems move from factory to site and are assembled in the field.
Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize methods for transporting structural assemblies and on-site installation
- Spot bottlenecks in assembly sequencing and implement systematic improvements
- Specify connection details, assembly sequencing, and install methods to minimize field labor and errors
- Collaborate with structural engineering and manufacturing to ensure designs account for transport and installation from the outset
- Engage in field work with crews to align design intent with on-site reality
- Document field challenges and convert them into repeatable, factory-buildable processes and details
Requirements
- 3 to 7 years of engineering experience across construction, manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, consumer hardware, or roles solving tangible assembly challenges
- Proficient in 3D modeling; Revit experience preferred, with support to upskill if using another platform
- Experience designing for assembly, prioritizing buildability as well as performance
- Self-directed, capable of scoping problems and driving progress without a fixed playbook
- Comfortable in field settings and during design reviews
