Robotics Software Engineer

RoboForce is hiring a Robotics Software Engineer to develop production software for real-world robot behavior and validate performance on deployed hardware.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain production software for real-world robotic systems using C++ and Python, prioritizing performance, reliability, and maintainability
• Integrate and refine robotics capabilities across perception, planning, controls, teleoperation, and platform software for robust behavior on physical robots
• Raise software quality via testing, validation, fault handling, performance tuning, and edge-case analysis for unstructured outdoor environments
• Investigate difficult failures spanning software, sensors, networking, timing, and hardware interfaces, and drive resolution through disciplined technical analysis
• Build internal tooling, scripts, and workflows to improve developer velocity, testing efficiency, observability, and release quality across the robotics software stack
• Partner with hardware to validate new features, evaluate system behavior, and iterate between development and real-world testing

Requirements

• B.S. or M.S. in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
• 2+ years professional experience in robotics, autonomous vehicles, drones, or complex embedded systems, including deploying physical hardware products into the field
• Strong command of C++ and Python, including the ability to read, debug, and write production-level C++ and build robust Python tooling
• Experience in one or more core robotics domains such as perception, motion planning, controls, localization, state estimation, system integration, or robot behavior
• Comfort working in Linux development environments, including command-line workflows, debugging, scripting, and system-level troubleshooting
• Proven ability to diagnose and resolve problems across software, hardware, sensors, and distributed system interactions
• Ability to work 5 days/week in-office with the team

Bonus qualifications

• Background in autonomous driving, drones, mobile robotics, or other systems deployed in outdoor or unstructured environments
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, or robotics platform software release workflows
• Experience building tools for testing, simulation, telemetry, debugging, or log analysis
• Experience with robotics visualization and diagnostics tools such as Foxglove, Grafana, RViz, or custom internal interfaces
• Experience taking robotics software from prototype to production and supporting reliability at fleet scale

Salary: USD 165,000 - 235,000 per yearly
