As a Senior Controls Engineer, you will provide hardware and software controls engineering knowledge and direction within a project team, guiding reviews, design, and communication to exceed expectations and deliver an exceptional customer experience at Invio Automation.

Responsibilities
- Participate in design reviews across proposals, standards, and project stages.
- Independently design, program, integrate and commission controls systems.
- Analyze customer requirements and contribute to proposal development.
- Develop and manage technical solutions that balance cost with reliability.
- Coordinate with other departments to meet project requirements.
- Provide industry specific application knowledge and direction.
- Develop project requirements and design specifications.
- Support product development efforts.
- Perform detailed system design, implementation and testing.
- Participate in system startup activities.
- Diagnose issues in pneumatic and mechanical subsystems that interface with electrical controls.
- Develop tools and integration strategies to increase effectiveness and reduce cost.
- Investigate architecture and technology enhancements.
- Deliver project tasks on schedule and within budget, meeting specifications and accuracy standards.
- Follow Invio Automation processes and work level instructions.
- Manage code incidents with minimal impact on production.
- Contain product costs through improved engineered solutions.
- Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers and project managers for seamless system integration along the production line.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 10 years of experience in automated controls systems.
- Proficiency in Allen Bradley PLC logic, servo motion, safety controllers and HMI displays using applicable software.
- Experience with fieldbus architectures including DeviceNet, Ethernet/IP, Profinet and Profibus.
- Understanding of robotic systems from brands such as Fanuc, Kuka, Motoman and Universal Robots and their integration with PLCs.
- Experience with vision systems for part recognition, positioning, robot guidance and quality inspections (Fanuc 2D/3D iR Vision, Keyence, Cognex).
- Familiarity with electrical circuits, safety circuits, power systems and motor control; proficient with AutoCAD Electrical for control system packaging.
- Ability to connect diverse automation components and systems including robots, vision systems, sensors and data acquisition devices.
- Strong analytical skills to diagnose complex system issues and implement effective solutions.
- Education: Associate degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred in programming, robotics, controls or engineering, with 10 years of experience in specialty tooling or related field.
