Job Description
Packaging Technologies & Inspection, LLC (PTI) is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to join its R&D team in Hawthorne, NY. In this onsite role, you will lead controls projects for non-destructive container closure system inspection technologies, with a focus on measurement accuracy, reliable controls design, and effective equipment interaction.
Role Overview
This position reports to R&D and is a new position. As part of PTI’s R&D department, you will help design and develop sophisticated non-destructive container closure system inspection technologies. PTI manufactures equipment that includes both bench-top inspection solutions and large scale automated systems.
The Senior Controls Engineer will collaborate across the controls function and partner with software and mechanical engineering. The technical emphasis includes controls system design for reliable operation, ensuring measurement accuracy, and building efficient user interactions through HMI and other graphical interfaces.
Responsibilities
- Lead the controls team across projects spanning basic pneumatic and sensory measurement through complex automation initiatives.
- Coordinate within the controls team and collaborate between software and mechanical engineering disciplines.
- Ensure the system’s measurement accuracy.
- Design reliable operation through controls systems design.
- Develop efficient user interactions with the equipment using HMI and other graphical means.
- Lead both controls and research engineers in projects and assignments, including professional development as part of PTI’s Leadership Team.
- Lead the team responsible for new applications and custom engineering that support the food, medical device, and pharmaceutical industries, with a focus on critical packaging applications.
- Design, select, and implement components.
- Develop the logic for PTI’s proprietary technologies.
- Program, document, train, and release test finalized technologies for the industries PTI supports.
- Some travel is expected, including domestic and international.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of job experience
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field
- Legal permission to work in the U.S. and a valid passport

Compensation and Location
- Location: Hawthorne, NY (onsite) at the PTI Office
- Work setup: In person
- Pay: USD 100,000 - 150,000 per year
