Job Description

Rhodes Wolfe is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to lead automation initiatives for food and beverage process systems in Rochester, New York. This onsite role emphasizes PLC and HMI programming, panel design, and seamless system integration. The position offers a competitive annual salary of $125,000 to $145,000, a solid benefits package, and opportunities to collaborate with clients and experienced engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Design electrical control panels and create schematic drawings using AutoCAD
  • Specify control system components and prepare comprehensive system documentation
  • Develop PLC I/O mappings and program using Allen-Bradley Logix platforms
  • Create HMI and SCADA applications with standard industry platforms
  • Design industrial communication networks and supporting data infrastructure
  • Build custom applications and database integrations using VB.NET and SQL
  • Support new and existing client systems and participate in onsite commissioning and startup activities
  • Train client operations and maintenance teams on equipment and control system functionality
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • 7+ years of industrial automation and controls programming experience
  • Experience in food, dairy, or beverage manufacturing
  • Strong PLC and HMI programming capabilities
  • Proven expertise in system integration and commissioning
  • Proficiency with Allen-Bradley Logix and AutoCAD 2D/3D
