Senior Electrical Engineer opportunity in New York, NY with Futures Consulting, LLC, a leading MEP design firm. This role focuses on delivering world-class design projects and requires a technically proficient, seasoned professional who thrives on complex projects and a passion for sustainable, high-performance, innovative, and iconic buildings.

Role Overview

The Senior Electrical Engineer will conceptualize electrical systems, communicate design options to clients and stakeholders, and drive the development of high quality construction documents and specifications. The role includes performing building load and emergency power calculations, preparing due diligence reports describing existing systems and design options, and contributing to construction administration activities with the MEP team. Mentorship for junior staff and client relationship development through coordinated project excellence are key focus areas.

Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize electrical systems and present design options to clients and other stakeholders.
  • Develop high quality construction documents and specifications.
  • Perform engineering calculations for building load analysis and emergency power systems.
  • Prepare building due diligence and assessment reports detailing existing systems and electrical design options.
  • Collaborate with the MEP team on construction administration, including on-site field observation, punch list reports, contractor coordination, RFIs, and cost estimate review.
  • Provide mentorship, training, and professional development for junior staff.
  • Foster client relationships through effective coordination and demonstrated project excellence.

Requirements

  • Experience working on a variety of building types through all project phases from schematic design to construction administration.
  • Excellent communication skills for in-person dialogue and relationships with owners, architects, and other consultants.
  • A desire for project management roles with the ability to lead and manage MEP project teams.
  • Strong written skills for engineering reports and technical analysis.
  • Solid knowledge of the National and NYC Electrical Code, New York Building Code, and NFPA Codes.
  • Creative thinking and problem solving abilities.
