Job Description
Matrix Technologies is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join its Raleigh, North Carolina team in a hybrid capacity. The role emphasizes the design of PLC control panels, MCCs, and VFD panels with low-voltage systems for industrial clients. The position offers a compensation range of USD 93,000 to 130,000 per year.
Responsibilities
- Learn and apply industry, Matrix, and client safety practices; contribute to safety guidance for your area and supervise the site team on safety matters.
- Ensure compliance with company and site safety policies while promoting continuous improvement of Matrix's Standards and Procedures.
- Learn and adhere to Matrix's Project Methodology; assist in developing scopes of work, preliminary design concepts, and cost estimates.
- Support field data collection and prepare project specifications; monitor and report project performance.
- Design electrical control packages guided by project needs and process documentation such as P&IDs; apply NEC and UL standards relevant to the project.
- Serve as the primary interface between the electrical discipline, other internal teams, and the client to ensure the client’s requirements are met.
- Develop PLC I/O schematics; create panel layouts and bill of materials; prepare three-line diagrams for motor circuits.
- Produce cable schedules and conduit layouts when required; develop construction scopes of work for installation contractors.
- Collaborate with installation teams during field work; assist clients with on-site bid walks for contractors.
- Support field start-ups and I/O verification by traveling to client sites; provide leadership and mentorship to less experienced engineers.

Requirements
- Legally authorized to work in the United States now or in the future without employer sponsorship.
- Minimum of six years of electrical engineering experience.
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program.
- Experience with EPC projects is preferred; FE or PE certification is a plus.
- Proficiency in basic AutoCAD schematic drawing or electrical package development.
- Experience with AC and DC motor drives, I/O hardware, MCCs, and industrial control networks preferred.
- Knowledge of industry codes and standards, particularly NFPA; UL508A knowledge is advantageous.
- Industrial background across sectors such as food and beverage, chemical, pharmaceuticals, and manufacturing is beneficial.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage customers, vendors, and stakeholders.
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel locally and overnight approximately 20–25%.

Physical Requirements
- The role may require standing, walking, sitting, bending, kneeling, crouching, and handling objects; frequent use of hands and arms.
