Senior Electrical Project Engineer
Job Description
Senior Electrical Project Engineer role based in Houston, TX, responsible for leading the design, development, and implementation of complex electrical power and control systems.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the design and development of electrical power and control systems, including switchgear, variable frequency drives, motor control centers, control panels, and substations
- Conduct advanced electrical analyses such as load flow, short-circuit studies, and system coordination evaluations
- Act as the technical lead for electrical system architecture, equipment selection, and key design decisions
- Ensure all electrical designs comply with applicable codes, standards (NEC, IEEE), and customer specifications
- Produce detailed engineering deliverables, including schematics, single-line diagrams, bills of materials, and testing documentation
- Review and validate equipment selections for performance, compatibility, and application suitability
- Collaborate with Project Engineers, Procurement, and Operations to maintain technical alignment from design through execution
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers
- Lead Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), commissioning activities, and troubleshooting of complex electrical systems
- Manage project scope, budgets, and schedules with accountability for engineering deliverables
- Support cross-functional teams with technical input and documentation
- Promote a collaborative, team-oriented environment aligned with company culture
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical engineering focusing on power system design and equipment integration
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
Requirements
- Strong expertise in electrical power system design and equipment integration
- Advanced understanding of medium- and low-voltage distribution systems
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical and electrical engineering analysis tools
- Ability to develop, read, and interpret complex electrical schematics and system designs
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Effective communication and collaboration abilities across cross-functional teams

Additional Details
Role is primarily office-based with occasional visits to shop or fabrication areas. The position requires regular sitting, standing, and computer use. Minimal exposure to physical hazards is expected, and PPE and safety guidelines must be followed when in operational areas.
