Senior Full Stack Software Engineer

General Dynamics Information Technology is hiring a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to design, develop, deploy, and sustain software and data capabilities for defense-related missions. The role focuses on building analytic frontends, production APIs, and data integration services, with hands-on development across Python applications, dashboards, and backend services.

What you’ll do

• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient Python code in line with established best practices and coding standards.
• Design, build, and maintain data analytics web applications, dashboards, and user-facing analytics experiences using Streamlit or similar technologies.
• Create interactive data products that help users explore, visualize, filter, and interpret complex datasets.
• Develop and integrate backend services, APIs, and data access layers using Python frameworks such as FastAPI or similar tools.
• Support data ingestion, transformation, validation, and aggregation capabilities to help ensure accurate, timely analytics.
• Work with relational databases including Postgres and MySQL, focusing on data integrity, performance, and effective query design.
• Collaborate with data analysts, data engineers, and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver practical analytics solutions.
• Create reusable software components and data services supporting reporting, visualization, workflow automation, and operational analytics.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and container-based deployments, including Docker-based environments, to enable repeatable builds and reliable releases.
• Use Git for version control to support collaboration and code management.
• Apply software engineering best practices to improve scalability, maintainability, testability, and reliability of analytics applications.
• Ensure solutions meet required security, quality, and compliance standards.
• Participate across the full software development life cycle, from concept and design to testing, deployment, sustainment, and enhancement.

Required experience and qualifications

• 5+ years of related experience.
• Ability to work effectively both collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience writing clean, maintainable, and efficient Python code.
• Hands-on experience developing applications supporting data analytics, reporting, dashboards, or operational data products.
• Experience with front-end development for interactive analytics applications using Streamlit or similar technologies.
• Working knowledge of web technologies, RESTful APIs, containerization, backend services, and user interface development.
• Experience building and maintaining backend solutions using Python frameworks such as FastAPI or similar tools.
• Familiarity with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and MySQL.
• Experience writing SQL queries to support analytics, reporting, and application functionality.
• Understanding of data quality, data validation, data transformation, and basic data modeling concepts.
• Experience with Docker; Kubernetes experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and repeatable deployment practices.
• Proficiency implementing and maintaining version control with Git.
• Hands-on experience with full stack development and understanding of the software development life cycle.
• Clearance: Current TS/SCI Clearance with active or ability to obtain CI Polygraph is required.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Eligibility: Due to US Government Contract Requirements, only US Citizens are eligible for this role.
• Location and travel: Onsite in Crystal City, VA with CONUS travel of up to 60-90 consecutive days annually.
