Humana is building a brand-new Pharmacy Eligibility application within its Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) platform. In this remote Software Engineer role, you will modernize legacy components to strengthen resiliency, improve performance, and deliver reliable backend workflows that support healthcare outcomes. You will work with agile teams to ship production-ready systems, while contributing to a culture focused on innovation, continuous learning, and continuous improvement of the consumer journey.
Location: Tennessee (remote)
Travel: Occasional travel to Humana offices for training or meetings may be required.
Weekly schedule: 40 hours
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and deliver high-quality software solutions that enhance healthcare and wellness experiences.
- Develop and optimize for scalability, reliability, stability, and maintainability.
- Participate across the full development lifecycle, including coding, testing, debugging, optimizing, and deploying production-ready systems.
- Raise engineering quality through robust testing strategies, tooling, automation, and adherence to standards.
- Investigate and resolve complex technical issues, identify root causes, and implement long-term solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional agile teams, partnering with product, architecture, and quality assurance to align solutions with business and consumer needs.
- Contribute to an engineering culture that values innovation, continuous learning, and continuous improvement.
- Act as a technical authority by driving architectural direction, elevating engineering quality, and delivering scalable applications.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in systems analysis or application programming development.
- Experience with PySpark, Databricks, and Cloud engineering.
- Experience deploying and maintaining Cloud-based applications using Azure App Service or Azure Kubernetes Service.
- Experience with relational databases at scale.
- Knowledge of server-side languages: .Net, .Net Core, or .Net Framework 7.0 and higher.
- Experience with event-driven or message-driven systems.
- Experience with CI/CD software development methodology.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree.
- PBM experience.
- Experience using GCP or Azure.
- Experience with PostgreSQL or MS-SQL.
- Experience with Kafka Streaming platform.
- Experience with a modern client-side framework such as Angular, React, or Vue.

Compensation
Pay range: $80,900 - $110,300 per year
This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan, based on company and/or individual performance.

Remote Work Location Requirement
This is a remote opportunity, but you must work within one hour of Louisville, KY, Dallas, TX, or Nashville, TN for occasional meetings, work sessions, or conferences.
Work-at-Home Requirements
- At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is recommended; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested.
- Satellite, cellular and microwave connection can be used only if approved by leadership.
- Associates who live and work from home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense.
- Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office associates with telephone equipment appropriate to meet business requirements.
- Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.
