Senior Java Software Engineer – TS/SCI Poly Required

Arrona Tech LLC is seeking a Senior Java Software Engineer to join an on-site team in the Hanover/Fort Meade area. This role requires an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph and focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining mission-critical Java software across the full software lifecycle. You will work closely with a small, high-impact team to deliver robust solutions in operational environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance complex software systems from documented requirements.
• Analyze user needs to derive software design and performance specifications.
• Design, code, test, and sustain new and existing applications.
• Modify software to add features, fix defects, adapt to hardware changes, and improve performance.
• Debug issues and resolve software problem reports.
• Integrate software into new or modified systems and operating environments.
• Develop RESTful services and enterprise web applications.
• Create and maintain database queries and data repository interfaces.
• Support front-end dashboards, backend repositories, and end-to-end data workflows.
• Collaborate with system and hardware engineers to define software requirements, interfaces, limitations, and performance needs.
• Develop or implement algorithms to meet system performance and functional standards.
• Assist with software test procedures and quality control.
• Review software components for design conformance and maintain documentation.
• Document test results and support the creation of Interface Control Documents and design specifications.
• Generate design specifications using UML-based tools and maintain design artifacts.
• Support software deployment, installation, and operational monitoring.
• Recommend and implement improvements to documentation and development standards.
• Serve as a technical lead when project needs and processes call for it.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph is required; candidates must currently hold the clearance.
• U.S. citizenship is required due to federal contract requirements.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline, plus 14 years of software engineering experience on programs of similar scope, type, and complexity; or 18 years of experience may substitute for the degree.
• 14+ years of software engineering experience; 10+ years of Java programming experience; 2+ years of Java 1.7 or higher.
• Experience developing presentation-tier applications; 1+ year with the Spring Framework.
• 2+ years of JavaScript development; 5+ years of JSP and Servlet programming; 5+ years of JEE enterprise web application design and development.
• 5+ years designing and developing RESTful applications; ability to deploy applications in an Apache Tomcat server.
• 1+ year working with JavaScript presentation libraries (e.g., jQuery, Angular, ExtJS).
• 6+ years of experience programming on Linux platforms; 6+ years using revision control tools (Git, GitLab, SVN, CVS, ClearCase).
• 6+ years of test-driven development experience; 3+ years of Oracle, PL/SQL, and/or MySQL experience.
• Experience writing Interface Control Documents and documenting design specifications for system components.
• Experience using UML-based tools (e.g., Confluence, Gliffy) and Microsoft Office tools.
