Senior Mechanical BIM Engineer
Job Description

The role centers on designing and coordinating BIM driven layouts and documentation for electrical and mechanical building systems using Revit, while serving as a liaison between project managers and customers.
Responsibilities
- Develop a thorough understanding of project scope, drawings, specifications, phasing plans, MEP interrelationships, construction sequencing, and the project schedule.
- Facilitate problem solving and coordination among MEP subcontractors during construction.
- Validate MEP design issues and propose alternative solutions as needed.
- Incorporate all MEP changes and as built information into field drawings.
- Support scope review, budgeting, and justification of MEP change orders.
- Create, coordinate, and manage MEP related materials, systems, and shop drawing submittals.
- Ensure all MEP coordination activities align with quality documentation and record requirements.
- Integrate client markups and comments into relevant deliverables.
- Download drawings and information from sources such as the web, SharePoint, FTP, and project portals.
- Maintain solid working knowledge of current modeling tools used by Powell, including creating and coordinating Revit families, views, browser structure, sheets, schedules, and filters.
- Order materials as needed for projects.
- Interface with sales, customers, and the shop to support project success.
- Translate verbal and written direction into functional design documents.
- Proofread and edit documents with minimal supervision.
- Distribute documents on behalf of the design team via website, internet, or hard copy as required.
- Integrate data such as spreadsheets, photos, images, and word processing files into Revit projects and deliverables.
Requirements
- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum five years of experience in a similar MEP coordination role within a BIM environment.
- Fluency with the current version of Autodesk Revit.
- Ability to read 2D plans, whether electronically or on paper.
- Proficiency with Autodesk NavisWorks and Autodesk Design Review, plus working knowledge of 3D layout and design.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; Oracle experience preferred

Working and Environmental Conditions
The position principally involves an office setting with occasional work in the shop environment and exposure to shop elements. There may be field-based work at construction sites or active client facilities.
