Senior Mechanical Engineer/ Professional Engineer

Obrien Engineering Inc (OEI, O’Brien Engineering & Architecture) is seeking a full-time Senior Mechanical Engineer/Professional Engineer to support DoD and federal projects from a Dallas, TX onsite location. In this role, you will handle mechanical design work while partnering with a multidisciplinary A/E team, bringing DoD-focused design subject matter expertise to each project.

You will apply extensive mechanical design experience to MEP-related projects, coordinating across disciplines and clients to deliver building systems designs using industry-standard tools.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical design for MEP-related projects while working alongside and coordinating with all disciplines and clients.
• Use effective written and verbal communication skills and manage time to meet project needs.
• Support design work with an understanding of building and facility systems and applications, coordinating with mechanical, electrical, civil, structural, and architectural disciplines.
• Assist in determining and developing project scope.
• Assist in collecting field data, including directing subconsultants.

Requirements

• 10+ years of mechanical design experience required.
• 6+ years of Department of Defense (DoD) design experience required.
• Minimum of 5 projects as DOR/EOR.
• Proficiency in understanding building codes and standards.
• Detailed knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing codes and standards, including UPC, IPC, IMC, NFPA, ASHRAE & IBC.
• Design experience including HVAC, building automation controls, and plumbing (preferred).
• Effective written and verbal communication skills and time management required.
• Proficiency in Autodesk Revit.
• Experience with Bluebeam PDF software (preferred).
• Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas, or a license in another state with the ability and commitment to obtain Texas licensure within 12 months.
• LEED accreditation (preferred).
