Senior Network and Security Engineer

ROOT GROUP INC is hiring a Senior Network and Security Engineer to support billable consulting work for clients across Colorado. This hybrid role is based in Broomfield, CO and focuses on designing, optimizing, and troubleshooting networking and security infrastructure spanning on-prem, hybrid cloud, and cloud environments.

In this position, you will collaborate closely with Account Managers and sales stakeholders to translate business and technical objectives into infrastructure solutions, while maintaining clear communication across project phases and client-facing teams.

Role Overview

• Provide billable consulting services to a Colorado client base.
• Partner with Account Managers to understand client goals and deliver IT network and security infrastructure solutions aligned to expectations.
• Operate in a diverse, challenging environment by applying a strong grasp of how infrastructure components interact.

Responsibilities

• Design, optimize, and troubleshoot networking and security deployments across on-prem, hybrid cloud, and cloud environments.
• Develop Statements of Work content for network and security infrastructure consulting projects and deliver services according to each Statement of Work.
• Ensure clear communication during all project phases with clients and sales personnel.
• Maintain and grow technical expertise through training, collaboration with other engineers, and expanding the scope of skills.
• Become or maintain subject matter expertise in assigned product areas.
• Support sales efforts by helping develop new business and expand existing business.
• Seek opportunities to broaden knowledge of other infrastructure disciplines by teaming on projects and through professional training.
• Build strong vendor relationships by achieving technical excellence in vendor product understanding and how to position and integrate products in client environments.
• Assist in the development, monitoring, and management of Managed Services offerings.

Requirements

• 10-12 years of IT networking, security, compute, and storage experience.
• Solid knowledge of the TCP/IP stack and networking protocols including OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, MPLS (or others).
• Experience architecting, deploying, managing, documenting, and monitoring networks that may include switches, routers, VPNs, remote access, SD-WAN, and security devices such as firewalls, IDS, A/V, and SIEM.
• Broad experience across multiple security and networking products, including Cisco, Palo Alto, Ruckus, Check Point, Fortinet, and monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, LogicMonitor, PRTG (and/or other).
• Excellent listening and communication skills across different personalities and varying technical expertise levels, including management.
• Strong attention to detail with an analytical mind and strong problem-solving skills.

Compensation and Schedule

• Salary: USD 120,000 - 120,000 per year
• Location: Broomfield, CO (hybrid)
