Senior Project Engineer
Job Description
The Senior Project Engineer is a senior-level individual contributor and technical owner within an Integrated Product Team (IPT). This onsite role in Richardson, TX focuses on product development ownership, ensuring requirements are met, guiding engineering teams, and escalating issues when needed to protect technical commitments.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and manage customer technical expectations, ensuring effective two-way communication between the project team and the customer
- Assess the feasibility of new business opportunities and develop or author technical proposals and contractually obligated responses
- Conduct detailed technical analysis and design at the subsystem or system level using tools such as Matlab/Simulink, Ansys HFSS, Spice, and Inventor
- Provide technical expertise and leadership for programs in collaboration with the Program Manager to achieve committed product functionality within the agreed contract timeline
- Ensure customer, contract, and regulatory technical requirements are met across programs
- Act as a technical expert for critical suppliers, including evaluation of supplier solutions and testing readiness to meet customer and regulatory requirements at proposal and/or project stages
- Lead engineering design teams toward program objectives related to quality, cost, and schedule, including on-time delivery
- Anticipate and manage technical risks and ensure mitigation plans are implemented
- Guide the Systems Engineering team to document and track program requirements and drive team alignment to those requirements
- Coach and develop junior Project Engineers who manage their own programs
- Support site installations as needed in the role of program expert alongside the Field Service Representative team
- Champion cross-team and intra-team collaboration and continuous improvement in product designs and engineering practices, with an emphasis on subsystem reuse
- Define processes for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output, and operating parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility

- Report quality problems or defects to a manager or member of senior management so corrective actions can be implemented and recurrence avoided

Required Qualifications
- BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a similar field, with 10 or more years of relevant experience
- Strong capability translating system level requirements into functional areas for implementation
- Extensive knowledge of RF and digital systems, as well as mechanical design
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and create required technical documentation
- Ability to perform in a highly dynamic environment with multiple concurrent projects and competing priorities
- Travel required to support site installations
- Selected candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance issued by the U.S. Government throughout employment
