Job Description

Senior Software Engineer position with Delta Dental Insurance Company in Alpharetta, GA (onsite) offering a yearly salary range of USD 152,131 to 154,200.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain products that address complex business use cases, system issues, and operational challenges.
  • Contribute to architecture, system analysis, and coding activities across application software.
  • Create production-ready software using solid data structures, algorithms, patterns, and frameworks that are scalable, secure, and maintainable.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement scalable, high-performance software solutions.
  • Integrate Oracle ADF and React.js applications with other enterprise systems, APIs, and services.
  • Lead migration of legacy Oracle ADF apps to modern technologies, leveraging ReactJS for front end and Spring Boot for back end.
  • Design and implement new front end interfaces with ReactJS, applying modern UI/UX and responsive design principles.
  • Refactor and migrate Oracle ADF business components, task flows, and logic to Spring Boot based services.
  • Develop RESTful services and back‑end APIs with Spring Boot to support the new React front end.
  • Connect ReactJS applications to Spring Boot back ends via RESTful APIs.
  • Develop and optimize SQL queries, work with JPA/Hibernate, and integrate with Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle databases.
  • Utilize Azure DevOps to implement CI/CD and monitor applications in production.
  • Build cloud-native solutions using Azure App Services, AKS, Azure Functions, and Azure Storage.
  • Adhere to security best practices when deploying to Azure, including API security, authentication, and data encryption.
  • Improve the performance, reliability, and scalability of React and Spring Boot applications in the cloud.
  • Partner with the operations team to manage cloud infrastructure, troubleshoot production issues, and ensure system availability.
  • Set up and optimize GitHub Actions, automating deployments, tests, and related workflows.
  • Integrate Git with Azure to streamline development processes.
  • Maintain and evolve SOAP-based services while planning a transition toward REST where appropriate.
  • Ensure SOAP to REST migrations preserve existing functionality and meet scalability, performance, and security targets.
  • Design and document APIs using Swagger/OpenAPI for clarity and external consumption.
  • Deliver high quality code with a focus on scalability, security, and performance, owning specifications, releases, and production monitoring.
  • Produce clear, maintainable technical documentation and foster a culture of thorough documentation.
  • Follow test-driven development and continuous delivery practices, leveraging automation where possible to ensure quality.
  • Participate in code reviews, provide technical guidance, and mentor fellow engineers.
  • Collaborate with Engineering leadership, Product Managers, Designers, and QA to define requirements and drive results.
  • Instrument infrastructure and application performance monitoring, capacity planning, alerting, and KPI measurement.
  • Assess the impact of hardware and software upgrades on the product and system.
  • Support planning, coordination, and execution of engineering projects.
  • Collaborate with peers across the engineering function during design, analysis, and development phases.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of policies and procedures to stay compliant and serve as a technical subject matter expert.
  • Be available to work on-site as needed and reside within a reasonable commuting distance from headquarters.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science or a related field, with five years of progressive software development experience.
  • Experience with Java, JSON, Hibernate, and Spring; knowledge of Axis is a plus for backend systems.
  • Front end and full‑stack capabilities using Angular, React, or Node.js to build dynamic, responsive applications.
  • Proficiency with Kubernetes and cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure, plus Docker, EC2, and RDS for scalable deployments.
  • Web services knowledge including REST and SOAP, plus Spring Boot, Swagger, and OpenAPI for API development and documentation.
  • Experience with databases such as Oracle, MySQL, or MS SQL; ability to design schemas and optimize queries.
  • Familiarity with development tools and environments including GitHub, SVN, GitLab, Ant, Maven, Gradle, Jenkins, Splunk, Eclipse, IntelliJ, Jira, Confluence, and Grafana.
  • Agile methodologies including Scrum and SAFe practices; comfortable with ceremonies and cross-team collaboration.
  • Experience deploying Java applications using Apache Tomcat and WebLogic.

Compensation

Base pay range: USD 152,131 to 154,200 per year. Pay Grade 22. This range reflects a good faith estimate; actual compensation may vary based on KSAs, experience, education, and related factors.
