Job Description

Work onsite in Bronx, NY and help build and improve embedded software for elevator control systems. This Senior Software Engineer role at GAL MANUFACTURING COMPANY LLC blends hands-on design and development with real-world testing, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement. You will collaborate closely with field, manufacturing, and engineering teams in an office-based engineering environment with frequent cross-functional communication.

Compensation: $143,000–$170,000 per year (anticipated base salary range). Schedule: generally Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM local time, with occasional overtime as needed to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, modify, and maintain embedded software for elevator control systems using C and C++
  • Troubleshoot and debug software alongside electronic hardware systems
  • Collaborate with Field Service, Manufacturing, and Engineering teams to resolve technical issues
  • Work closely with electrical and mechanical engineering teams throughout product development
  • Perform functional testing of software updates and enhancements
  • Document software functionality and system behavior
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance
  • Support the development and continuous improvement of coding standards, engineering best practices, and design processes
  • Participate in on-site testing and troubleshooting as needed
  • Take on additional duties and special projects as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in real-time embedded software engineering
  • Strong experience with C and C++
  • Experience with embedded real-time operating systems
  • Embedded firmware development and troubleshooting skills
  • Familiarity with revision control systems such as Git
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision
  • Experience leading small projects and mentoring team members
  • Elevator industry experience and knowledge of elevator control systems
  • Experience with low-level device drivers
  • Experience with scripting tools such as Bash, PowerShell, Python, or Make/Cygwin
  • Experience with C#, PHP, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
  • Ability to develop creative and strategic solutions to complex technical challenges

Position Details

  • Onsite: This position may be based at Vantage Elevation's Bronx, NY; Irving, TX; or Sacramento, CA location
  • Environment: office-based engineering environment with frequent cross-functional collaboration
  • Travel: occasional travel for on-site testing and troubleshooting
