Job Description

The H&R Block AI Platforms Team is hiring an experienced Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and deploy AI platform services and GenAI capabilities. The role focuses on end-to-end engineering work, including technical specifications, scalable feature delivery, testing, and participation in technical design and code reviews.

Compensation

USD 101,200 - 161,900 per year

Experience and Education

  • Minimum experience: 5+ years
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Equivalent education: acceptable through a combination of education and related work experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate business and functional requirements into technical specifications and platform requirements
  • Use appropriate tools, languages, coding standards, and best practices to develop new product features and continuously enhance existing functionality
  • Create and execute unit tests and address defects identified through testing and validation
  • Collaborate with team members to maintain a consistent understanding of requirements and the chosen approach
  • Deliver features that improve scalability, usability, resiliency, and performance
  • Support technical design and participate in code reviews for new enhancements and ongoing maintenance work

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or the equivalent through a combination of education and related work experience
  • 5+ years of experience building software products and solutions
  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience with .NET, REST APIs, Cosmos/SQL server, and Azure
  • Experience working in agile methodologies including SCRUM and/or Kanban
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, including source control management systems and continuous integration/deployment environments
  • Experience developing engineering solutions that meet functional and non-functional requirements
  • Strong communication skills and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ year of experience building AI products and solutions
  • Experience with Azure SignalR service and Azure AI Services
