Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable distributed systems and cloud native applications
• Own end-to-end software development from requirements analysis through architecture, implementation, deployment, and production support
• Build backend services, APIs, and microservices using Java and Python
• Define service interfaces with REST, GraphQL, and gRPC
• Create resilient, fault tolerant systems employing modern reliability engineering practices
• Drive performance, scalability, and modernization initiatives across the platform
• Architect and operate highly available services in AWS
• Deploy and manage containerized applications with Docker and Kubernetes
• Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
• Design multi region and multi cloud solutions to support high volume workloads
• Support CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes
• Establish observability, monitoring, and incident management practices
• Participate in on call rotations and production support activities
• Perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measures for production issues
• Engineer resilient architectures with circuit breakers and retry mechanisms
• Lead initiatives for service availability, disaster recovery, and operational excellence
• Lead architectural reviews and technical design discussions
• Mentor junior engineers and advocate engineering best practices
• Collaborate with product, architecture, security, and platform teams
• Conduct technical interviews and contribute to hiring efforts
• Influence engineering standards, coding practices, and platform strategies

Requirements

• Proficiency in Java, Scala, Python, JavaScript, and TypeScript
• Experience with Spring Boot and Spring Framework
• Strong background in REST APIs, gRPC, and GraphQL
• Expertise in event driven architectures and microservices design patterns
• Distributed systems engineering experience
• Frontend experience with React, Node.js, Backbone.js, and Ruby on Rails
• Web technologies including HTML5, CSS3, Java Servlets, JSP, and jQuery
• Cloud and container orchestration with AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, and Docker Swarm
• Infrastructure as code with Terraform, plus deployment pipelines with Spinnaker
• Istio service mesh knowledge
• Database proficiency with DynamoDB, PostgreSQL, Aurora MySQL, SQL databases, MongoDB
• Experience with distributed data stores and CI/CD pipeline implementation
• Monitoring and incident tools such as Datadog, PagerDuty, and LaunchDarkly
• Resilience patterns with Resilience4j, plus production operations experience
• Root cause analysis (RCA) and post incident follow through
• Exposure to AI assisted tooling and code generation (Github Copilot, AWS Bedrock, Claude Code, GenAI tools)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building large scale SaaS, consumer internet, streaming, networking, or enterprise platforms
• Designing and operating services that support millions of users
• Knowledge of Software Defined Networking, cloud security, and multi cloud environments
• Understanding of distributed consensus, fault tolerance, caching, and data replication
• Experience building internal developer platforms and configuration management systems
