Senior Software Engineer – Finite Element Analysis

Sinopec Tech Houston offers a focused opportunity to shape the next generation of 3D finite element analysis tools for geomechanics and reservoir simulation. This onsite role in Houston places you at the intersection of advanced numerical methods and practical engineering applications, contributing to an in-house FEM parallel computing platform and collaborating across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Develop innovative finite element software on our in-house FEM parallel computing platform.
• Build models, efficient numerical algorithms, and software for geomechanics and reservoir modeling in Windows and Linux environments.
• Collaborate with a GUI developer to create pre- and post-processing tools, mesh generation utilities, and intuitive user interfaces for the FEM software.
• Design, develop, and maintain software while supporting software testing activities.
• Actively contribute to project quality and maintain high standards for source code.
• Create and maintain comprehensive software documentation.
• Share expertise across the team to elevate collective capability.

Requirements

• Strong and proven programming skills in Fortran, Python, or other relevant languages.
• Expert knowledge and hands-on experience with numerical methods and coding, such as FEM and FDM.
• Proven experience with parallel computing and other high-performance computing approaches.
• Experience coding in Linux and Windows environments.
• Organized, detail-oriented, with strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience in 3D visualization programming is a plus.
• Software development experience in numerical analysis, hydraulic fracturing, reservoir simulation, geoscience, or geomechanics is preferred.
• Self-starter with multi-tasking abilities and a disciplined work approach.
• High integrity and self-discipline to complete objectives on time.
• Team player with good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to handle confidential intellectual property.
