Job Description

Senior Software Engineer accountable for designing and operating data pipelines, backend services, and integrations that convert raw engineering signals into trusted, actionable metrics for Home Depot's engineering leadership, spanning cloud infrastructure to APIs with Go and React/TypeScript.

Responsibilities

  • 50% Delivery and Execution - Develops, tests, deploys, and maintains software with a clear view of the value it provides; tackles new opportunities and tough challenges with urgency and energy; consistently delivers results under pressure; builds test suites (functional, destructive, etc) to enable rapid production deployment; approaches issues with a broad, global perspective.
  • 20% Learns and Grows - Gains knowledge through successful and failed experiments; actively pursues growth using both formal and informal development avenues.
  • 20% Plans and Aligns - Collaborates in agile processes; identifies better ways for the organization to succeed; partners with Product Team to ensure user stories are valuable, developer-ready, clear, and testable; communicates across audiences; adapts to shifting demands and stakeholder needs.
  • 10% Supports and Enables - Mentors junior engineers and leads technical discussions to promote modern software development practices.

Requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in relevant roles
  • Experience building and operating production services on Google Cloud Platform, including BigQuery
  • Familiarity with engineering metrics and DORA-style measurement (deployment frequency, lead time, change failure rate) and skepticism toward vanity metrics
  • Proficiency in Go, React, and TypeScript; backend services primarily in Go with React/TypeScript dashboards
  • Prompt engineering experience and exposure to building or operating LLM-backed agents or tools, including integration with developer tool APIs to reconcile data across systems
  • Comfort in a small platform team supporting many internal stakeholders; able to triage ambiguous requests, push back on scope, and ship incrementally
  • Strong data instincts: write and reason about SQL against BigQuery and translate messy operational data into actionable insights for leadership
  • Experience bridging a platform team and internal customers to explain metrics and their meaning, not just compute them
