Job Description
Senior Traffic Engineer in the Traffic Engineering Group based in King of Prussia, PA (onsite), responsible for leading the design and management of projects involving traffic signals, signing, markings, roadway and parking lot lighting, work zone traffic control, and ITS devices, along with traffic safety and operations studies and modeling on a range of projects.
Responsibilities
- Lead design and management of projects involving traffic signals, signing, markings, roadway and parking lot lighting, work zone traffic control, and ITS devices
- Conduct traffic safety and operations studies
- Develop or apply traffic models using Synchro, SimTraffic, VISSIM, and VISUM
- Handle assignments from small-scale intersection improvements to complex interchanges and corridor projects, including multimodal transportation plans and parking studies
- Perform quality control reviews of design deliverables
- Support marketing and business development efforts
- Mentor and develop staff to build technical capabilities
- Occasionally work on client-site locations
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- Minimum of 16 years of progressive experience in traffic engineering
- Fundamental understanding of macro, meso, and micro traffic modeling
- Experience with VISSIM, VISUM, HCS, Synchro/SimTraffic, CORSIM and QuickZone
- Experience designing traffic control devices including signals, signing, maintenance of traffic, pavement markings, ITS devices, and lighting
- Familiarity with AASHTO, MUTCD, Highway Capacity Manual and Highway Safety Manual
- Licensed as a Registered Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania or eligible for comity from another state
- PTOE certification preferred
- Experience working on PennDOT projects required
- Experience with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Exceptional communication, technical writing and organizational skills
- Collaborative attitude and ability to work well with others
