Senior Traffic Engineer/PM
Job Description
Lowe Engineers is expanding its traffic practice with a Senior Traffic Engineer/PM who will lead a team and drive a portfolio of traffic projects across Georgia and the Southeast. Located on site in Atlanta, this role emphasizes project leadership, client engagement, and new business development alongside hands-on design and analysis.
The position focuses on delivering signal design, traffic studies, and ITS initiatives while mentoring colleagues and expanding the firm’s regional footprint.
Responsibilities
- Traffic signal design and plan preparation in accordance with city, county, and GDOT standards
- Signing and marking plans and ITS/communications planning
- Attend design meetings and interact with clients
- Traffic studies including traffic impact analyses, Development of Regional Impact (DRI) studies, and intersection/corridor analyses
- Traffic calming studies in compliance with applicable regulations, standards, and specifications
- Crash data analysis with diagrams and mitigation recommendations
- Participation in planning commission, zoning board of appeal, and city council meetings as needed
- Traffic signal operations analysis related to timing and sequencing
- Working knowledge of traffic software and systems: MicroStation, AutoCAD Civil 3D, Synchro 11 / SimTraffic 11, Sidra Intersection 9, HCS 7
- Adherence to MUTCD and GDOT design guidelines and standards
- Use of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams for project communication
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in civil or traffic engineering
- Minimum of 7 years of recent experience in traffic or transportation engineering
- Georgia Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Georgia Driver’s License
