Senior Transportation Design Engineer

Goodwin Recruiting is seeking a Senior Transportation Design Engineer for an on-site role in Indianapolis, Indiana. In this position, you will lead transportation design tasks, contribute hands-on engineering work, and mentor junior staff within a close-knit team. The role emphasizes minimal ramp-up time and collaboration to deliver high-quality infrastructure designs across active projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead transportation design tasks while supporting junior engineering staff
• Produce preliminary and final engineering deliverables
• Contribute to roadway rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts, including intersections, traffic signals, roundabouts, drainage, and multi-use paths
• Apply INDOT, LPA, and AASHTO standards on active projects
• Collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure high-quality outcomes

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Indiana or ability to obtain within 6 months
• 4–8 years of transportation engineering experience
• Strong working knowledge of INDOT standards and procedures
• Experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D
• Ability to enter projects quickly with minimal training
