Job Description
Responsibilities
- Lead discovery to map value streams, assess process and data maturity, and identify high-impact, low-effort AI use cases.
- Evaluate jobsite workflows and underlying data to surface gaps and craft phased improvement plans with Operations Excellence to establish a solid baseline before deploying agents.
- Assess market solutions, run pilots, measure impact, and scale successful implementations.
- Build MVP AI agents quickly from user stories using AWS Bedrock, Sagemaker, ChatGPT Enterprise and other frameworks; connect front-end to Teams/SharePoint and back-end to Databricks Lakehouse, AWS services, or other sources.
- Engineer enterprise-grade LLM operations and RAG pipelines backed by data stores like Opensearch; automate infrastructure with GitHub Actions and monitor latency, cost, adoption, and drift.
- Collaborate with Data Engineering to design and maintain ETL pipelines, API integrations, and event-driven connectors feeding agents and RAG systems.
- Orchestrate cross-cloud deployments by blending AWS Bedrock, OpenAI, and Azure OpenAI behind secure connectors for smooth rollout.
- Drive change enablement through crew training, feedback collection, iteration, and tracking of adoption and ROI metrics; apply behavioral change principles to embed agents into daily routines and SOPs.
- Communicate progress and business impact to project leadership and clients; contribute use cases and playbooks for Suffolk’s Construction Site of the Future.
- Draft clear user stories, data specs, and acceptance criteria to hand off complex solutions to central AI Studio or Data Engineering teams for scaling prototypes into enterprise-grade applications.
- Ensure on-site AI tools comply with Suffolk information security, data governance, and client confidentiality standards.
Requirements
- 4–6+ years in AI engineering, full-stack data applications, or data science, including at least 2+ years building production LLM, RAG, or agentic solutions.
- Bachelor’s degree in CS, Engineering, Physics, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Hands-on experience in construction or heavy process industries (manufacturing, oil & gas, chemicals) is a strong plus.
- Proven process excellence background (Lean or Six Sigma Green Belt highly valued) with ability to diagnose process and data gaps and support change management with Operations Excellence.
- Strong facilitation and communication skills.
- Hands-on experience with coding assistants such as Claude Code, Devin AI, MS Copilot, among others.
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, FastAPI, Databricks Lakehouse, and vector stores.
- DevOps and IaC experience with GitHub Actions, Terraform or CloudFormation; solid Git/GitHub workflow discipline.
- Foundational ETL/ELT design knowledge, experience with Airflow or Databricks Workflows, and REST/GraphQL API development; collaboration with Data Engineering on pipelines.
- Willingness and ability to travel and work on active jobsites.

Working Conditions
Regularly seated work with use of keyboard and phone; occasional standing, walking, and reaching; requires close and distance vision, depth perception, and focus for extended periods; primarily office environment with site exposure as needed.

Compensation Information
The expected salary range for this position in New Haven, CT is between $152,000 and $222,600 per year. This range reflects typical compensation for the role and may vary based on skills, experience, education, and other qualifications. Suffolk offers a comprehensive benefits package as part of the total compensation.
