Software Data Engineer

Kyyba Inc is hiring an early-career Software Data Engineer for an onsite role in Fuquay-Varina, NC. This position is designed for hands-on engineering that improves how the team builds, deploys, and runs data workflows, working alongside vehicle data engineers and analysts.

The work focuses on internal tooling, automating job orchestration, and keeping CI/CD pipelines dependable so the team can spend more time delivering outcomes and less time on manual processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain internal tooling that supports team data workflows and reduces manual effort
• Own and improve GitHub CI/CD pipelines to enable reliable, repeatable deployments
• Develop and manage automated Databricks job orchestration and workflow scheduling
• Collaborate with data engineers to support pipeline development as needed
• Write clear documentation for tooling, processes, and automation solutions
• Support repository management, including participating in code reviews and upholding software quality standards
• Develop or consume REST APIs to connect internal systems or trigger automated workflows

Minimum Requirements

• 2+ years of professional software development experience, including internships or co-op roles
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field (or equivalent practical experience)
• Demonstrated ability to write clean, maintainable Python code
• Experience working in a collaborative Git-based development workflow
• Experience identifying business needs and developing recommendations and solutions

• Familiarity with Delta Lake and Parquet in lakehouse architectures
• Any exposure to vehicle data, CAN bus, or telematics systems

Location and Compensation

• Location: Fuquay-Varina, NC (onsite), including time “on the road”
• Compensation: USD 40 - 45 per hour
