Software Engineer

Advanced Energy Industries, Inc. is hiring a Software Engineer in Fort Collins, CO (onsite) to build and evolve software applications that support RF calibration, testing, characterization, and service of Advanced Energy products. The immediate focus is an RF Calibration System application designed to automate test workflows, connect with instruments and hardware, collect and analyze measurement data, and provide an intuitive operator experience.

Responsibilities

• Contribute as part of a team by balancing time and scope to meet specification and scheduling demands.
• Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications for RF calibration, testing, and service activities.
• Create software solutions that interface with instrumentation, hardware devices, and automated test systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to define requirements and implement technical solutions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve software and hardware integration issues.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support both new product development and sustaining engineering efforts for existing products.

Required qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development experience using C# and .NET.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional and geographically distributed teams.

Experience that will help

• Desktop application development with WPF and MVVM architecture.
• Experience building software that communicates with hardware devices, instruments, sensors, controllers, or embedded systems.
• Knowledge of communication technologies such as TCP/IP, USB, Serial (RS-232/RS-485), Ethernet, GPIO, CAN, Modbus, SCPI, or similar interfaces.
• Strong object-oriented design and software architecture skills.
• Debugging experience for complex software and physical hardware interactions.
• Best practices across source control, code reviews, automated testing, and continuous integration.
• Experience using Git-based source control and modern development workflows.

Compensation and application details

Salary range: USD 85,000 - 145,000 per year.
