Job Description

Bowers builds and supports modern software used to power W.E. Bowers & Associates operations, and this role helps keep those systems reliable, efficient, and ready for change. You will design and deliver full-stack web applications hosted in Microsoft Azure, working alongside business users on-site and shared services teams across Legence. The team also leverages AI development tooling, including Claude Code, to speed delivery and strengthen code quality.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain full-stack web applications hosted in Microsoft Azure.
  • Create responsive, accessible front-end interfaces using React.
  • Develop and maintain back-end services, APIs, and integrations using Python and/or Java.
  • Model, query, and manage data using Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Fabric.
  • Use Claude Code and related AI development tools to accelerate delivery and improve code quality.
  • Integrate AI capabilities into business applications to support W.E. Bowers users and improve operational efficiency.
  • Maintain and modernize legacy reporting assets when applicable, including Crystal Reports tied to the Spectrum platform.
  • Work directly with W.E. Bowers business users on-site to gather requirements, troubleshoot issues, and deliver fit-for-purpose solutions.
  • Collaborate with Legence shared services and engineering teams across other Legence operating companies on standards, security, and platform initiatives.
  • Document solutions, follow source-control and CI/CD best practices, and contribute to a high-quality engineering culture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.
  • 2 to 4 years of professional, post-college experience in full-stack web application development.
  • React proficiency for front-end development.
  • Strong professional experience with Python or Java for back-end development; working knowledge of the other is strongly preferred.
  • Hands-on experience designing, querying, and managing data in Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Fabric.
  • Demonstrated working experience across the Microsoft Azure ecosystem, including: Azure App Service, Azure Functions, Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, Azure AI Foundry / Azure OpenAI Service, Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions, and Microsoft Entra ID.
  • Hands-on experience with Claude Code or comparable agentic AI coding tools (examples include Cursor or GitHub Copilot agents), with readiness to adopt Claude Code from day one.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into working technical solutions.
  • Experience building reports and dashboards in Microsoft Power BI.
  • Experience maintaining or modernizing reports in Crystal Reports, particularly those tied to the Spectrum platform.
  • Exposure to additional AI development capabilities, frameworks, and patterns beyond Claude Code.
  • Interest in or exposure to the AEC (architecture, engineering, and construction) or MEP industry.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation: $90,000 to $110,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

  • This role is also eligible for an annual performance based bonus.
  • Bonus eligibility and payout are determined by role, individual performance, and company performance, and are not guaranteed.
  • No visa sponsorship is available for this position.

Work Location: Beltsville, MD (onsite).
