Software Engineer

What you’ll do

In this role, you will develop, maintain, and enhance complex software systems, including processing-intensive analytics and real-time systems. You will translate user needs into software design and performance requirements, then design, code, modify, and integrate solutions across new or changed environments.

• Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements
• Design and code new software or modify existing software to add features
• Debug software and correct defects; adapt and improve performance
• Integrate existing software into new or modified systems or operating environments
• Develop simple data queries for existing or proposed databases or data repositories
• Develop or implement algorithms to meet or exceed system performance and functional standards, including work requiring strict timing, resource, or interface constraints
• Assist with developing and executing test procedures for software components
• Write or review software and system documentation, and provide recommendations to improve documentation and development process standards
• Analyze system performance standards, system flow, data usage, and work processes to develop software solutions; investigate problem areas
• Build or implement complex database or data repository interfaces and queries
• Serve as team lead as appropriate to the software development process on a given project; oversee one or more software development teams and perform quality control
• Coordinate software system installation and monitor equipment functioning to ensure operational specifications are met
• Confer with system and hardware engineers to derive software requirements and obtain project limitations, capabilities, performance requirements, and interface information

Required skills and experience

• AI/ML development or integration experience
• Terraform experience with AWS
• Experience with C++, Python and/or Golang
• Experience with writing high-performance / GPU-enabled applications
• Experience with large-scale streaming data analytic systems
• Fourteen (14) years of experience as a Software Engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity

Education: A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.

Experience substitution: Four (4) years of additional Software Engineer experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
