Software Engineer
Job Description
Creeda is hiring a Software Engineer to build and ship end-to-end product features and customer-facing automations across the stack.
Responsibilities
- Build across the stack, from front end to back end and data, improving the platform where it needs attention most
- Take problems and own them end to end
- Ship features that customers are actively waiting on
- Debug and fix integrations that break a bookkeeper’s close
- Improve onboarding to help firms bring over hundreds of locations instead of around fifty
- Travel periodically to customer sites for larger firms; sit with accountants to observe real workflows and build automations that go straight into production
- Create automations based on what bookkeepers describe each week so the same improvements apply across firms serving the brand
- See the customer workflow, write the code, and ship the fix in the same day
Requirements
- Strong backend engineering using TypeScript or Python
- Run TypeScript on Node and Next.js for the product, workers, and importers
- Use Python for the classifier and ML training on Postgres
- Experience with data not designed for you, including human-oriented documents (PDFs, edited spreadsheets), vendor exports, and third-party APIs that may contradict each other
- Rigor with financial data, where “approximately right” is not acceptable
- Ability to explain why a balance check passing proves the arithmetic is correct, not just the entry
- Judgment with code quality, including evaluating AI coding agent output and stating precisely why it is wrong
- Ability to set constraints upfront so outputs are reviewable from the start
- Clear written communication; each codebase area must have an orientation doc read by the next engineer and by AI coding agents
- Willingness to travel periodically once phase two begins, including several multi-day trips per quarter

- TypeScript, Python, Node, Next.js, Postgres
- PDFs, spreadsheets
- Third-party APIs
Benefits

Helpful, Not Required
- Putting ML or LLM output into production behind hard constraints where the model may be wrong but the system is not
- Double-entry bookkeeping
- Accounting, fintech, POS, payroll, or ERP background
- QuickBooks Online’s API, Plaid, or any general ledger system
- Experience at smaller companies where titles did not determine who did what
