Job Description
ASD is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to develop real-time, resource-constrained software for flight, space, and ground systems in C++ within RTOS environments, onsite in Manhattan Beach, CA.
Responsibilities
- Develop software for resource-constrained target environments with soft and hard real-time requirements across flight, space, and ground systems.
- Implement complex data analysis, data routing, and control system algorithms.
- Familiarize with diverse processors, memory architectures, and I/O configurations, delivering both procedural and object-oriented C++ code.
- Work with real-time operating systems such as VxWorks or Linux and their host development tools.
- Design, develop, document, test, and debug applications and systems that involve logical and mathematical solutions.
- Collaborate with hardware engineers during planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product software.
- Assess overall system and user needs, analyze capabilities to address program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming methods, and controls; prepare operating instructions; create utility programs; ensure adherence to software standards.
- Contribute to the full software life cycle for automated test sets and test systems on aerospace programs.
- Operate in a process-driven environment using waterfall, spiral, or agile methodologies.
- Exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills and collaborate with engineers from multiple disciplines within a lab setting.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Software Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution; minimum 5 years of software development experience.
- Proficiency in object-oriented software design and C++ programming.
- Experience delivering software in RTOS environments such as FreeRTOS, RT-Linux, or GH Integrity.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced lab environment with rapid development cycles.
- Active Top Secret clearance.
- Proficiency in C and C++, including embedded C++ development and object-oriented programming.
- Experience with VxWorks RTOS and Wind River VxWorks.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience across multiple software life cycle phases including architecture development, requirements definition and analysis, OO development, code and unit testing, and system integration and testing.
- Experience with lab instruments such as noise and signal generators, logic and spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, power sources, and switches.
- Experience validating and verifying RF, digital, or mixed-signal hardware.
Pay
- $80.00 - $90.00 per hour
