Job Description

Build scalable backend infrastructure for a memory platform at Engramme in San Francisco, CA (onsite). This Software Engineer (Back-end) role blends performance engineering, API development, and collaboration with AI/ML teams to integrate memory retrieval algorithms. You will help systems handle millions of memory retrievals per day while setting strong engineering standards and automated scaling in place.

What you’ll do

  • Design and implement scalable backend architecture for the memory platform
  • Develop robust APIs to support high-throughput memory retrieval
  • Optimize database performance and implement caching strategies
  • Partner with the engineering team on technical architecture decisions
  • Define engineering best practices and code quality standards
  • Collaborate with AI/ML teams to integrate memory retrieval algorithms
  • Monitor system performance and implement automated scaling solutions

What you bring

  • 5+ years of backend engineering experience
  • Strong proficiency in Python and modern web frameworks such as FastAPI, Django, or Flask
  • Experience with PostgreSQL and database optimization
  • Working knowledge of AWS and/or GCP, plus containerization with Docker and Kubernetes
  • Understanding of caching systems including Redis and Memcached, along with distributed architectures
  • Experience with API design and microservices architecture
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code
