Job Description

The Mission Systems Software Engineer will design and operate software infrastructure that supports autonomous aviation systems, spanning aircraft, ground control, and cloud services. The role focuses on Linux-based development and end-to-end engineering practices needed for reliable testing, maintenance, and production operation.

Compensation

USD 140,000 - 200,000 per year

Role Summary

As a Mission Systems Software Engineer, you will build and maintain software systems and infrastructure that enable efficient operations, testing, and ongoing maintenance of autonomous aviation. Work will include Linux-based software across aircraft, control center, and cloud components to support the Reliable Robotics autonomy system.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define the architecture for airborne, ground, and cloud systems that support aircraft communications, fleet operations, and data management
  • Develop, debug, and deploy software across the stack, including embedded systems, Linux platform software, and the application layer
  • Integrate third-party hardware and software components into the Reliable Robotics autonomy platform
  • Maintain high software performance and reliability for daily use in both R&D and production environments

Required Qualifications

  • B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of systems-level programming experience in Rust and/or C++
  • Experience in environments where software is deployed and used on a daily basis in production

  • Practical experience deploying and operating Linux-based production software, including networking, containerization, and profiling or performance management
  • Experience deploying and managing infrastructure in AWS, and building systems that interact with AWS services
  • Knowledge of networking concepts including UDP/IP, NAT, sockets, and routing
  • Experience working on software that drives hardware systems
  • Experience with distributed systems and messaging protocols

Additional Requirements

  • Willingness to travel 10% of the time
  • This position requires access to information subject to U.S. export controls. Employment is contingent on the ability to comply with U.S. export control laws
