Software Engineer / Research Scientist

Parsons is seeking a Software Engineer / Research Scientist to help design and implement Python-based applications and machine learning pipelines within a Linux development environment. This role supports mission-focused work through contributions to software engineering practices, CI/CD automation, and real-world ML deployments for US government customers.

You will work across the Federal Solutions team, collaborating with a cross-functional group while managing codebases with version control and ensuring software quality through integration and testing. The position requires an active Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement Python-based applications
• Develop and maintain machine learning pipelines
• Collaborate with a cross-functional team in a Linux development environment
• Manage codebases through version control
• Build and support CI/CD pipelines
• Support software quality via integration and testing practices
• Work with modern ML frameworks and contribute to innovative, real-world technology deployments

Requirements

• Experience with Python development, with emphasis on object-oriented programming practices
• Extensive scripting and programming experience such as bash and Python web frameworks, plus familiarity with developmental environment libraries like pip or anaconda
• Familiarity with machine learning architectures including Pytorch, ONNX, and Tensorflow
• Experience working in a Linux development environment, including maintaining codebase documentation and git repositories
• Critical experience with version/source control tools such as git, GitHub, and bitbucket, along with implementing CI/CD pipelines, integration testing, and other quality testing
• Team development experience is a plus

Security Clearance Requirement: An active Secret security clearance is required.
Location: Maryland (onsite).
Salary Range: USD 74,800 - 130,900 per year.
