Software Engineer – Scalable Systems

Nightwing Intelligence Solutions, LLC is hiring a Software Engineer to build scalable, resilient systems for mission-critical operations in Annapolis Junction, MD (onsite).

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable software systems for mission-critical operations
• Apply machine learning models and AI-driven analytics to enhance signal processing and network analysis
• Optimize performance for distributed computing, microservices, and containerized environments to maintain scalability and reliability
• Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to integrate real-time, data-driven solutions into existing and new platforms
• Deliver high-impact work on large-scale data pipelines, message brokering systems, and adaptive algorithms
• Participate in internal reviews and contribute ideas to improve system performance and security
• Prototype and iterate on automation, efficiency, and collaborative system concepts
• Follow agile development practices and configuration management standards using modern DevSecOps tools and workflows

Requirements

• STEM degree (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics)
• Proven experience building scalable and distributed systems, including containerized environments such as Kubernetes, Helm, and Podman
• Cloud-native architecture experience
• Programming proficiency in modern languages such as C++ and Python
• Strong Linux-based development workflow experience
• Solid foundation in data structures and algorithm design for resource-efficient solutions
• Familiarity with secure DevSecOps workflows, CI/CD automation, and configuration management with Git
• Strong communication and teamwork skills with a focus on innovation and collaboration
• Active TS/SCI security clearance with Polygraph
• U.S. citizenship required

Salary & Compensation

• Salary range: USD 99,000 - 206,000 per year
• Compensation is commensurate with qualifications, years of relevant experience, and demonstrated level of expertise

Qualifications We Prefer

• Experience with machine learning frameworks and applying ML/AI models to analyze and simulate network traffic, signal processing, or other complex systems
• Deep knowledge of event-driven systems, messaging queues (e.g., Kafka), and RESTful APIs or gRPC
• Proven experience architecting and optimizing microservices and containerized systems
• Familiarity with multithreading, parallel processing, and asynchronous programming best practices
• Embedded software design and hardware integration experience
• Prior success applying AI-driven projects to automate decision-making, detect anomalies, or improve performance at scale
