Solidworks Industrial Design Engineer
Job Description
This onsite role focuses on designing and detailing custom metal and millwork components, leveraging SolidWorks to drive fabrication-ready solutions in collaboration with production teams.
Role Details
Location: Auburn, WA (onsite). Salary: USD 60,000 - 90,000 per year. Minimum experience: 5 years.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily with the Engineering Manager.
- Produce production and CNC ready part files and drawings using SWOOD and or SolidWorks.
- Prepare submittal drawings for review and approval.
- Create production drawings to support fabrication.
- Draft CAD files for project needs.
- Perform material take-offs and prepare BOMs.
- Estimate costs and resources for projects.
- Manage projects and coordinate across teams.
- Collaborate with production to identify efficient VE fabrication approaches.
- Take initiative and own assigned work from concept to completion.
- Show a track record of driving organizational changes through collaboration.
- Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ensure drawings and estimates are complete, accurate, and readable.
Requirements
- SolidWorks experience of 7+ years is required; SWOOD knowledge is a plus.
- Creative, dynamic thinker with solid problem-solving abilities.
- Foundational knowledge in millwork, POP design, sign design, interior cabinets and countertops, floorplans, and metal fabrication.
- Ability to read and extrapolate information from architectural drawings.
- Review sales designs to ensure compliance with product offerings and installation requirements and limitations.
- Provide support to Pricing, Production, and Installation Departments as needed.
- Project management as required.
- Produce submittals within a 48-hour turnaround time.
- High quality illustration techniques to effectively communicate concepts and intent is a plus.
- Proficient Adobe Creative Suite skills are a plus.
- Excellent craftsmanship and attention to detail in building, drawing, and fabrication.
- Daily use of SolidWorks to achieve necessary tasks.
- Familiarity with KeyShot and or SOLIDWORKS Visualize to create renderings and submittals; other rendering programs are a plus.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD is a plus.
- General Microsoft Office knowledge required.
- Bluebeam knowledge required.
- SolidWorks experience: 5 years (Required).

About the Role
This opportunity targets an experienced Industrial Design Engineer with a solid understanding of architectural casework and millwork fabrication. The work encompasses a broad spectrum of design-engineering-build projects, including airports, hotels, restaurants, interior cabinets and countertops, high-end residential millwork, custom metal fabrication, displays, and additional design, engineering, and manufacturing initiatives. Preferred Skills and Experience
- Degree is not required, but substantial expertise is expected. 7+ years of SolidWorks experience is required; SWOOD knowledge is a plus.
