Job Description

General Dynamics Mission Systems offers a strategic role in Scottsdale that blends system engineering leadership, product ownership, and IPT direction for a major Space Force program. This hybrid position combines technical direction with people leadership, supporting a flexible work arrangement that can be remote, on-site, or hybrid.

Responsibilities

  • Define, own, and communicate the vision, strategy, and roadmap for a defined topic area within the system to guide development and integration.
  • Collaborate with Development Leads to preserve architectural integrity and technical enablement, and arbitrate technical decisions as needed.
  • Engage with customers, stakeholders, and Product Management to translate the technical solution into an executable strategy.
  • Provide direct line management for a team of senior engineers, overseeing performance management, career development, and mentorship.
  • Lead and direct multiple Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), ensuring their efforts align with the solution vision and priorities.
  • Facilitate cross-IPT collaboration, manage dependencies, and resolve impediments to enable seamless integration and delivery.
  • Drive accountability and execution excellence across engineering teams and IPTs.
  • Manage resource allocation and structure teams to support program success.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of formal people management experience, including leading and developing engineering teams.
  • Proven success guiding multiple cross functional teams or IPTs within a complex, large scale development environment.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Identifies opportunities to apply artificial intelligence for ongoing process improvement and innovation.

Technologies

Experience with the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) is required.

Basic Qualifications

Education and experience: Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant supervisory experience, or a Master’s degree plus a minimum of 6 years of experience.

Clearance Requirements

  • Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance is preferred within a reasonable time after hire.
  • Applicants will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to the nature of work performed in our facilities.

Workplace Options

  • This position can be fully remote/telework, fully on-site, or hybrid.
  • On-site work places you within the SDA program located in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Salary Note

This estimate reflects typical pay for the role based on experience and location, and actual compensation may vary. Combined Salary Range: USD 150,314.00 - USD 170,285.00 per year.
