Sr. Electrical Engineer (Building Services/Construction)

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, management, and execution of complex electrical engineering projects across commercial, institutional, industrial, and residential facilities.
• Manage the full project lifecycle, including conceptual design, permitting, budgeting, bid documentation, construction administration, commissioning, and project closeout.
• Design power distribution, lighting, renewable energy systems, fire alarm, low-voltage communications and security systems, emergency power systems (generators, transfer switches, and UPS), and building automation controls.
• Perform electrical calculations and power system studies (load flow, short circuit, coordination, arc flash); develop construction documents; conduct site surveys; ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and IBC.
• Serve as technical lead and project manager, coordinating with clients, architects, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver fully integrated designs.
• Provide construction-phase support, review contractor submittals and invoices, monitor schedules, conduct field investigations, and act as Resident Engineer when required.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to junior staff, oversee designers and CADD technicians, participate in business development activities, and maintain strong client relationships.

Requirements

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering; Professional Engineer license preferred, Florida PE highly desirable.
• 7–10+ years of building systems electrical engineering experience.
• Strong experience with power distribution, emergency power, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems.
• Proven project management and client-facing experience.
• Proficient with electrical design software, CADD, and Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and International Building Code requirements.
• Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and mentoring skills.
• Willingness to travel for site surveys, meetings, and construction support; travel up to 25% preferred.
